Volunteer Opportunities

Ravensway is fortunate to have many recreational facilities and a large clubhouse, and we’re excited to expand how often—and in what ways—these shared spaces are used for community-wide events and activities. This resident-led committee will take the lead in planning and coordinating events throughout the year, including holiday celebrations, family activities, recreational programs, and new opportunities that bring neighbors together.

The best community events come from collaboration. Every committee member will have a voice, and new ideas are encouraged. The Committee will also welcome suggestions from residents and encourage neighbors who are willing to share their talents, volunteer their time, and help turn great ideas into memorable community experiences.

Whether you enjoy organizing, decorating, coordinating volunteers, managing logistics, promoting events, or simply lending a helping hand, we’d love to have you involved. Prior experience isn’t required—just enthusiasm for building a stronger community.

Committee responsibilities include:

Planning community events and activities

Developing new programs while supporting favorite community traditions

Recruiting and coordinating volunteers

Promoting events and encouraging resident participation

Evaluating completed events and recommending improvements

Coordinating with the Facilities Coordinator on logistics, scheduling, and operational support

We're also building the ⚡️ Events Crew ⚡️ now— residents who want to pitch in on events or share a particular skill or talent, without committee responsibilities. Whether you can spare a few hours once a year, want to be a regular hand at multiple events, or just want to help with one you care about, there's a place for you.

For decades, The PowderHorn kept Ravensway neighbors informed and connected. Its issues, dating back to the 1970s, record our community's history: the events, the people, and the everyday life of the neighborhood. We'd like to scan the full printed collection and make it available on our Newsletter page so every resident can explore it.

This is a project for many hands. We plan to rent a scanner and run volunteer shifts at the clubhouse. Before we book the rental, we need to know we have enough helpers to make good use of the time.

No experience is needed. Each issue is a folded, stapled booklet, so the work involves removing staples, cutting sheets into single pages with the clubhouse paper cutter, and feeding them through the scanner. It's simple and goes quickly once you get the hang of it. You can give a single shift or come back as often as you like.

Volunteers will help with:

• Removing staples and cutting sheets into single pages
• Scanning pages at the clubhouse
• Putting pages in reading order and organizing issues by date
• Checking pages for personal contact information that should be removed before posting
• Naming and uploading files to the data storage to be uploaded into web archive

📌 Have old issues at home? We'd love to add them to the archive. Because scanning requires cutting each issue into single pages, we're asking for donations rather than loans. If you'd like to keep a copy you've shared, we'll return the cut pages in order with the digital version.

Following a professional accessibility assessment of our common areas and amenities, the next step is developing a thoughtful, practical plan for improvements across the community.

We are looking for homeowners who want to be part of that conversation—whether you have professional experience in construction, engineering, architecture, facilities management, accessibility, finance, or project planning, or simply a personal interest in making our community more welcoming and accessible.

The committee will review findings, discuss priorities, consider budget implications, and provide recommendations to the Board regarding future improvements.

Committee members will:

• Review accessibility recommendations

• Help identify priorities for implementation

• Consider practical and financial factors

• Provide resident perspectives

• Contribute to long-term planning

Participation is limited to current members of the Association due to budgetary and financial discussions.
